The Literacy Narratives

We invite you to explore the full-length multimodal literacy narrative compositions and literacy narrative interviews from our students. The interviews with Alix and Medarka are large files and may take a few moments to load.

Keunho Shinan undergraduate student from Korea who is in the United States for the first time. Korean is his home/heritage language and he has also studied Japanese.



Sofia Gomezan undergraduate student from Mexico who attended an high school in Monterrey, Mexico where English was the language of instruction. Spanish is her home/heritage language.



TianWei (Sky) Wangan undergraduate student from China who has traveled extensively and  lived in England, the US, and Canada since beginning high school. Chinese is his home/heritage language.



Alix Escotean English teacher from the Philippines in the United States as part of the International Leaders in Education program sponsored by the US Department of State. Ilocano is his home/heritage language though English and Filipino are his languages of schooling. He also speaks French.



Medarka Muripan English teacher from the Philippines in the United States as part of the International Leaders in Education program sponsored by the US Department of State. Tausug is her home/heritage language though English and Filipino are her languages of schooling.
