Along one possible reading path, Techne begins and ends with trailers, short videos that sample and comment, in their arrangement and design, on the content of the site. We chose the genre of the trailer specifically for its orienting affordances. For what is a trailer if not a tease, a suggestion, a pointing—a setting of the scene of seduction? If you read "straight" through, you might experience these trailers as framing devices. If you stumble on them as you work through the site, they might remind of you something already encountered, or spark another way of reading, or seem to suggest possibilities to come.
But the trailer is only one of many orienting genres and devices we've played with throughout Techne. If you've reached this coda after meandering for some time through the text, or if you've stumbled into it for the first time, we invite you now to consider re-orienting yourself.
In composing Techne, we hoped to create a space in which other writers might explore with us the multiply valenced intersections of self, text, and technology. Where do we go from here?
