Glen (interlude)

A set of photographs from Jonathan’s uncle’s life circles slowly around the screen. The images are of a nighttime crowded city scene with prominent advertisements for Coke and BP; the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans' Jackson Square; Glen eating fried chicken; Glen washing an old car; Big Ben (the clock tower in London); and Glen and three other uniformed men wrestling on the ground. The images rotate two and a half times.

 

A slow, simple twelve-bar blues riff in E minor (slightly distorted) accompanies the circling photos. The effect is slightly nostalgic but also evokes fun, fond memories, a separate life, an earlier time, a different path.
