Those scenes of destruction, those damages, claim us. We can claim them back. They need not deter us from the orientations we have chosen . . . or derail us from the trajectories that sustain us.

 

The last bit of text fades into a full-color photograph of Jonathan holding up his iPhone with an old black-and-white school picture of his uncle Glen on it. Jonathan speaks again:

 

But they might illuminate for us the paths we have taken, the paths we might yet still take.
