I can do more

Length: 0:34

The black-and-white video of Jackie’s hand reappears, in front of a gnarled tree trunk and then near the grassy ground, her hand sifting dirt and then fingering the dirt, feeling it. In a voiceover, Jackie says:

In my garden, hands full of dirt. I write my life with these hands. This soil, even as it runs through my fingers, feeling the stone here, the root here, the glass here, the fine dust here. My sense of myself reels in this attention to my own alterity, to the spaces within and without.

Then Jackie speaks directly into the camera: “We can all do more. I can do more.”
