Considering the Needs of Diverse Individuals
People have different identities, personalities, abilities, and experiences that may make some kinds of participation harder or easier for them.
People from different generational, linguistic, cultural, and class backgrounds may value different kinds of participation.
People may have other obligations or responsibilities that can make some forms of participation challenging.
Some people need to vocalize in the company of others in order to work out what they think; other people need time and to reflect and deliberate before they speak or respond.
Some people may need to feel invited to enter a participatory space.
All people need to know that their contributions will be valued by others.
