How portfolio letter grades are determined using the descriptive evaluation methods
If students have met the requirements for a B prior to submitting their portfolios according to the class’s participation agreement, their course grades are configured according to the following table. The four elements include: the presentation essay (PE), the retrospective-prospective essay (R-P), the collection of artifacts and commentaries, and the visual and rhetorical design decisions.
A Maturing on 4 elements
A- Maturing on 3 elements including R-P and PE. Nothing below Progressing
B+ Maturing on 2 elements including R-P or PE. Remaining two must average Progressing
B Maturing on 1 element. Remaining three must average Progressing
B- Average of Progressing on all elements
C+ Progressing on the R-P and PE
C Progressing on either the R-P or PE
C- Emerging on all elements
If students have not met the requirements for a B prior to submitting their portfolios, the highest grade they can earn is an A-.
