We seek connection. Invitational rhetoric provides one entryway into that connection. In this space, we invite conversation with the expectation not that we will provide a convincing argument, but rather that we will provide a space, a network in which we can postpone the sense of closure that Ong (2002) argues print encourages (p. 129).
